Art Day:: Kitsch Love
I have a special place in my heart for kitsch. Not the creepy kitsch as described by Milan Kundera but the strange, reflective, often self-mocking examination of nostalgia and consumerism.

Fashion Friday:: Gown Party
A few weeks ago, I was on a day trip with my fabu friend/pseudo-in-law, Kim. We decided that there were definitely not enough opportunities to wear gowns on a regular basis. Consequently, we also decided that when we're both reclusive writers living in Page Springs we'll definitely have Gown Parties to remedy this-modern day dilemma.
I'm building my wardrobe on Pinterest in preparation!

For the Home:: A Modern Gothic
Indulge your darker side. My mother says I have casket taste and she would know (wife of coroner).
I don't care.

Tuesday Randomness:: Bill Murray Love
I love Bill Murray. It's true. Ever since I first saw Stripes as a kid.
Everyone should love Bill Murray as I love Bill Murray.

Fit Monday:: Get-Back-to-Itiveness
The time has come. I had my birthday/start-date a few weeks ago and I have yet to get the healthiness seriously underway. I'm committing Mondays to wellness on the blog and everyday to wellness in my life... starting now.

Fashion Friday:: Patterns!
"Fun-loving patterns make outfits happen," says the girl who just got her Eiffel Tower print skirt back today from the ever-so-talented Lisa Marie Pezzati.

Monday Project:: Free the Girls
Today I'm sifting through my skivvies to rid myself of poorly-fitting and lightly-used bras for donation to Free the Girls, a non-profit organization providing job opportunities to women rescued from sex trafficking. Find a donation drop point in your area and gut your undergarment drawer!

a moment of zen
Say this to someone over the course of the next week and see what happens. It's good to assert yourself.
Also, don't take advice from just anyone with a blog.

Water + Computer
Posts were delayed a few days while my computer was recovering from a close encounter with water. She somehow managed to pull through thanks to a panicked post to Facebook and a timely response from friends. Rice was the saving grace. So, if ever you find yourself staring down your wet laptop in fear, leave it off for a few days in a bag of rice and pray for its recovery.

For the Home:: Quaint Living
The Phoenix metro area is not known for its quaintness. Admittedly, there are some truly adorable neighborhoods and houses but Phoenicians would probably agree we are lacking quaintness... well, quaintness minus kitsch. I am fortunate to live in one of the stranger neighborhoods of Tempe where many of the few examples of Arizona quaintness reside. Thank goodness for little bluehouse. I will probably always opt for cuter, smaller (& older) homes. Such as these...

Monday Project!
I'm committing this year to some long due projects. One of these major commitments is to improving my home by condensing all the excessive items that plague it into a new, streamlined, minimalist den of thought and creation. I shoot big so even if I fall short I've accomplished something worthwhile.
Here's one plan of attack for a complete home re-organizing extravaganza! I'm formulating my own as I type...

a moment of zen:: What Would Liz Do?
If this week has gotten you down or the thought of another week looming in front of your is a bit daunting, fear not, I have a new mantra for you. Just ask yourself "What would Liz do?" everytime the world gives you some sass.
