For the home:: The Great Autumn Cleaning

While springtime usually brings out the need to clean house in most of the vagina-owning humans I know, this urge comes for me in the fall. Something about Autumn... Maybe it's the sense of impending hibernation. No one wants to hole up in filth. Or maybe it's the guests that always seem to be around during the holidays, drinking your wine, passing judgement on your floorboards...

As I am handi-fabulous and can't do much with things below my hip level, a lot of undesirable debris is allowed to gather on our floors. Yesterday, the fella and I had a committed-to-clean chat about the teamwork that has to go in to this year's "Fall Clean" - and, as my fella is wonderful, he's ready to launch into our November project as a partnership.

Here are some of my organizing projects I have planned for this month...

1. Gut my closet and rid myself of all unwanted items.
Organize what remains.

2. Tackle my office and organize my paperwork.
Paperwork... bleh.

3. Now that I decided to become a master chef, I definitely
need to orchestrated my kitchen a little differently.

Monday Project:: Free the Girls

Today I'm sifting through my skivvies to rid myself of poorly-fitting and lightly-used bras for donation to Free the Girls, a non-profit organization providing job opportunities to women rescued from sex trafficking. Find a donation drop point in your area and gut your undergarment drawer!

Monday Project!

I'm committing this year to some long due projects. One of these major commitments is to improving my home by condensing all the excessive items that plague it into a new, streamlined, minimalist den of thought and creation. I shoot big so even if I fall short I've accomplished something worthwhile.

Here's one plan of attack for a complete home re-organizing extravaganza! I'm formulating my own as I type...

I am woman. Watch me craft.

The summer heat has brought on a vicious idleness. I have certain medical conditions that make any time spent in extreme sunlight a danger and the heat grotesquely aggravates this further. One doctor told me to become a shut-in or move to Alaska. I found another doctor. Nevertheless, the summer months do require a bit of hibernation. If I'm not careful the summer becomes a blur of depression, shpilkes, and snacking. This cannot be allowed. I have decided to craft. And (maybe) clean/organize some things.

Here are the projects I'm currently considering...

For the Home:: Checklisting to Success

I have a heck of a time keeping track of the tasks I want to get done. Perhaps because my mother never provided me with such task handy options as a child, I've come to rely on them as an adult. This is a great website that allows you to customize your own list (in case "make bed" isn't on your list).
